A simple and effective tension releasing practice which aids deep relaxation and naturally reduces stress levels. A natural way to release tension and stress TRE® (Tension, Stress & Trauma Release Exercise) is a series of exercises practiced mindfully to assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma.
When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. The shaking of the muscles, increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. Who can benefit from TRE®?
Since this shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behaviour as humans, most people can benefit from TRE.
Whether you are a parent/spouse who would like more patience with your family, a victim of violence or accident, a soldier suffering with PTSD, an athlete, or simply a person who wants to become more resilient and just feel better about life, you can benefit from TRE.
If you have any physical constraints then the exercises can be modified accordingly. TRE® is a safe and effective stress release technique for most people. However a group environment may not be appropriate for everyone. Individuals who have physical or psychological/psychiatric conditions that require strict regulation or individuals with fragile psychological defenses, a complex history of trauma or restricting physical or medical limitations should consult their medical practitioner and/or a Certified TRE Provider prior to attending a group class.
All participants will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to the class. Individual sessions are available if this is deemed to be a more suitable approach.

TRE® Classes & Workshops
What happens in a class?
Each class begins with a basic introduction to TRE and a short grounding practice using the breath. We then mindfully work through a series of exercises from standing to lying down that induce a natural tremoring mechanism in the body. You will be taught how to initiate the tremors, how to self-regulate during the practice, how to rest and how to stop the tremors. At the end of each session there is a period of relaxation that allows a deeper integration of the effects of the practice to take place.
What can I expect?
With the uniqueness of each person in terms of their physical, emotional and mental makeup it is only to be expected that each person’s experience of TRE will vary. So it helps to come to each session with a beginners mind, staying curious and interested in the experience that unfolds. Most people report a feeling of release and relaxation at the end of the session and there are many other reported benefits that are not always immediately obvious.
What do I need to bring?
If you have a yoga mat and a blanket then please bring them along but if not these will be provided. It’s a good idea to keep hydrated so bring a bottle of water too.
How much will it cost?
You can pay £15.00 for an individual session or pay £60 in advance for a block of 5 sessions. Most people find that 2 or 3 sessions gives them the confidence to practice on their own. 5 sessions over 10 weeks helps establish a practice and an opportunity to experience any resulting changes and benefits. A regular group session often offers a different and complementary experience to practicing at home as well as providing additional support and guidance.
